Tab Sessions Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
Tab Sessions is a browser extension for saving and restoring sets of tabs. It has no servers of its own, requires no account, and collects no analytics.
What the extension stores
When you save a session, or when auto-save takes a snapshot, the extension stores the following about your open tabs:
- page titles and URLs,
- the address of each page's icon (favicon),
- whether each tab was pinned, and the names and colors of tab groups,
- the session name you give it and the date it was saved.
Your settings (lazy restore, auto-save on/off and interval) are stored too.
All of this is kept only on your device, in the browser's extension storage. Auto-save keeps at most the five most recent snapshots and deletes older ones automatically. Incognito windows are never saved.
When data leaves your device
- Never automatically. The extension makes no network requests of its own and sends your sessions nowhere.
- Site icons: when the popup lists a saved tab, your browser loads that page's icon from the website it belongs to, the same as it would for a bookmark.
- Export: if you choose Export JSON in Settings, a file with your sessions is saved to your computer. What you do with it is up to you.
The extension does not sell, share or transfer data to anyone, and does not use it for advertising, creditworthiness or any purpose unrelated to saving and restoring tabs.
Deleting your data
Delete any session from the popup. Turning off auto-save stops new snapshots. Uninstalling the extension removes all of its data.
Permissions
- Tabs: to read the titles and URLs of the tabs you save, and to reopen them.
- Tab groups: to save group names and colors, and recreate the groups when restoring.
- Storage: to keep your sessions and settings on your device.
- Alarms: to run auto-save on a schedule.
