Age Calculator: Exact Age As On Any Date

Work out your exact age in years, months and days, today or on the cutoff date in an exam or job notification. It also shows total days lived and when your next birthday is.

Exams and jobs often fix age "as on" a cutoff date. Use the date in your notification.

Enter a date of birth to see the age.

Checking age eligibility for exams and jobs

Recruitment notifications usually say something like "minimum 18 and maximum 27 years as on 01.08.2026". Two things to watch:

  • Use the notification's cutoff date, not today. Your age on the cutoff decides eligibility, even if the exam is months later.
  • Read the exact wording of the upper limit. Notifications usually also state a range of birth dates ("born not earlier than … and not later than …"). That range is the final word, and it settles edge cases like being born exactly on the cutoff date.

Age relaxations for reserved categories, ex-servicemen or persons with disabilities are added to the upper limit and vary by notification, so check the specific rules that apply to you.

How the calculation works

The calculator counts complete calendar months first, then the remaining days. That's why someone born on 31 January is "1 month" old on 28 or 29 February rather than on a fixed 30th day. The "total days" figure is the exact number of days between the two dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my age as on a particular date for an exam?

Enter your date of birth, then set 'Age as on' to the cutoff date given in the recruitment notification (often 1 January or 1 August). The result is your completed age on that date, which is what eligibility rules compare against the minimum and maximum age.

Does the result include the 'as on' date itself?

It shows completed years, months and days between the two dates, the way age is normally stated. If you were born on 15 August 2000, you are exactly 26 years, 0 months, 0 days on 15 August 2026.

How are birthdays on 29 February handled?

In years without 29 February, 28 February is treated as the birthday, both for the next-birthday countdown and when counting completed years. Some organisations use 1 March instead; if the date is critical, check the rule the notification follows.

Why do month lengths matter?

Months have 28 to 31 days, so 'one month' can't be a fixed number of days. A month is counted once its anniversary passes. If that day doesn't exist (for example the 31st in a 30-day month), the last day of the month is used.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
