QR Code Generator: Links, Wi-Fi and UPI
Create QR codes that never expire: a link for your menu or portfolio, a Wi-Fi code so guests can join without typing the password, or a UPI code to receive payments. Download as PNG or print-ready SVG.
22 characters. Shorter content makes a simpler, easier-to-scan code.
Use SVG for print. It stays sharp at any size.
Static vs dynamic QR codes
A static QR code, which is what this tool makes, stores your content directly inside the pattern. It works offline, forever, and nobody can track scans or switch it off.
A dynamic QR code stores a short link to someone else's server, which then redirects to your content. That lets you change the destination later and count scans, but the code dies if that service shuts down or your subscription lapses. For anything printed and long-lived, static is the safer choice.
Tips for codes that scan first time
- Keep contrast high: dark code on a light background. Inverted or pastel codes fail on many phones.
- Leave the quiet zone: the white border around the code is part of it. Don't crop it off.
- Print it big enough: a rough guide is at least 2 × 2 cm, larger if people scan from a distance.
- Shorter is better: a short URL makes a simpler pattern that scans faster in poor light.
- Test it with two different phones before printing a batch.
Wi-Fi QR codes
Phone cameras on Android and iPhone recognise Wi-Fi QR codes and offer to join the network directly, so guests never need to type your password. Special characters in your network name or password (such as ;, , or :) are escaped automatically so they're read correctly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No. The code contains your link or details directly. There's no redirect through our server, so it keeps working for as long as the link itself works. Many 'free' QR sites use dynamic codes that redirect through them and stop working when a trial ends.
How does the UPI QR code work?
It encodes a standard upi://pay link with your UPI ID, name, and optionally an amount and note. Any UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and others) can scan it and open a payment to you. If you leave the amount empty, the payer types it in.
Is a UPI QR from here safe to use for my shop?
The code only contains the UPI ID you typed. Before printing, scan it with your own UPI app and check the payee name and ID shown. For a business, the merchant QR from your bank or payment app adds features like payment notifications and settlement reports.
What does error correction mean?
QR codes store extra recovery data so they still scan when partly damaged or covered. Higher levels survive more damage but make the code denser. Medium suits screens; use High for printed codes or if you plan to place a logo over the centre.
PNG or SVG?
PNG is easiest for sharing in chats and documents. SVG is a vector format that stays perfectly sharp at any size, which is better for posters, flyers and anything you send to a printer.
Is my Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?
No. The QR code is generated in your browser and nothing you type leaves your device.
