Your BMI
23.5
For your height, a BMI in the normal range (18–22.9) means a weight of about 52.0 kg to 66.2 kg.
BMI is a screening number, not a diagnosis. It doesn't distinguish muscle from fat and isn't meant for children, pregnant women or athletes. Speak to a doctor about your health.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the Indian BMI ranges lower than the WHO ranges?
Research shows that Asian Indians tend to have more body fat and a higher risk of diabetes and heart disease at the same BMI than European populations. India's 2009 consensus guidelines therefore treat 23–24.9 as overweight and 25 or more as obese, compared with 25 and 30 in the WHO international ranges.
How is BMI calculated?
BMI = weight in kilograms ÷ (height in metres)². For someone 1.70 m tall weighing 68 kg: 68 ÷ (1.70 × 1.70) = 23.5.
Is BMI accurate?
It's a quick screening tool, not a measure of health on its own. It can overestimate fat in muscular people and underestimate it in older adults. Waist size is a useful second check: for Asian Indians, a waist above about 90 cm in men or 80 cm in women is linked with higher risk.
Can children use this calculator?
No. Children and teenagers are assessed with age- and sex-specific BMI percentile charts, so ask a paediatrician instead.
