Tips for a good-looking PDF
- Set it up once in Excel: Page Layout → Print Area, Print Titles and “Fit to 1 page wide” are all respected here.
- Too many columns? Choose Scaling → Fit width, or switch to landscape or A3.
- Hide what you don't want printed: hidden rows, columns and sheets are left out.
- Sharing salary or fee details? Add a password afterwards with Protect PDF.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the PDF keep my Excel formatting?
Yes. Column widths, row heights, merged cells, fill colours, borders, bold and italic text, alignment, wrapped and rotated text, and number formats (₹ amounts, percentages, dates) are drawn the way Excel prints them, along with pictures and charts (column, bar, line, area, pie, doughnut and scatter) placed where they sit on the sheet.
Does it use my print settings?
By default each sheet prints with the settings saved in the workbook: paper size, orientation, margins, scaling or 'fit to page', the print area and the rows set to repeat at the top of every page. You can override paper, orientation and scaling, e.g. 'Fit width' to keep all columns on one page width.
What about hidden sheets, rows and columns?
Like Excel, hidden rows and columns are left out. Hidden sheets are listed but not ticked; tick one if you want it included.
Are formulas calculated?
The PDF shows the value Excel last saved for each formula. If you changed inputs and didn't save, open and save the file in Excel first so the values are up to date.
Can I convert .xls or .ods files?
Only .xlsx (and .xlsm) and .csv. Open older files in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice and save them as .xlsx first.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded?
No. The workbook is read and the PDF is drawn in your browser. Salary sheets, client lists and accounts never leave your device.
