Getting the most out of Pomodoro
- Pick one task per focus session and write it down before you press start.
- During the break, actually step away: stretch, drink water, look at something far away.
- If a session keeps getting interrupted, try shorter 15-minute sessions first and build up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. Time is measured from the system clock rather than by counting ticks, so it stays accurate in a background tab, and the time left is shown in the tab title. Switching between Countdown, Stopwatch and Pomodoro on this page doesn't stop a running timer either.
Will I hear when the timer ends?
A short chime plays when a countdown or Pomodoro session ends. Make sure your device isn't muted. For Pomodoro you can also allow browser notifications, so you're told even if you're in another app.
What is the Pomodoro technique?
Work in focused 25-minute sessions, each followed by a 5-minute break, and take a longer 15–30 minute break after every four sessions. You can change all three lengths to suit you.
Does it work if I close the page?
No. Everything runs in the page, so closing or refreshing it stops the timer. For long timers, keep the tab open.
